RESIDENCE @ VELACHERY

THIS SOUTH FACING BUILDING CAME INTO, WHILE IT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION WITH AN OCCUPATION OF 850 SQ.FT BASE CONTAINING A LIVING, AN ANCESTOR ROOM & AN ANTHILL WHERE SNAKES RESIDE ON THE WESTERN END AND TWO FLOORS OF OTHER MAJOR FACILITIES PLANNED ABOVE; WITH A NEED OF AN ADDITIONAL FACILITIES SUCH AS A LIFT, LIBRARY, SWIMMING POOL AND A HOME THEATER.

THE CLIENTS CONSIDERED THE WESTERN END TO BE THE MOST DOMINANT AND PRIME PART AS LOCATION OF THE SNAKE MOUND & ANCESTOR ROOM TO BE THERE. HENCE, THE SNAKE MOUND WAS GIVEN SO MUCH IMPORTANCE WE EVOLVED CONCEPT FROM THERE, TAKING UP RHOMBUS AS THE DOMINATING FORM AND EXTRUDING THEM INTO THE PRIME AREAS. THE SOUTHERN MAIN FACADE HOLDS A HUGE RHOMBUS WITH A CENTRAL ROUND WINDOW FOR HOME THEATER ON THIRD FLOOR;   EXTRUDED TOWARDS NORTH TO ENGULF A SWIMMING POOL FROM THE EASTERN EDGE AND THE FIRST FLOOR BALCONIES, BEDROOMS & LIBRARY CROWNING EXTRUDED RHOMBUS ON THEIR HEADS. THE NORTH WESTERN FACADE OCCUPIES A RHOMBUS HEADED CUBOID HOLDING THE MOUND, ANCESTOR ROOM ON THE GROUND FLOOR AND A SURMOUNTING BALCONY ON OTHER THREE FLOORS. FINALLY THE STRUCTURE IS CORONATED BY A PYRAMIDAL ROOF WITH A CUBOID BELOW, THAT ACTS AS AN ACCESSIBLE ATRIUM WITH A FINIAL ON TOP.
